lisboa
some sketches of my recent trip to lisboa, where I did a workshop at the "faculdade de letras" about artists vision of lisboa.

I start my sketchbook nº150 in the plane between barcelona and lisboa.
than I eat some delicious "polvo a la brasa" with some friends at "principe de calhariz".
assist to pedro cabral's talk about "slow travel".
and have a traditional "duel portrait" with mario linhares.
to finally have a diner with the local urban sketchers.
a short but well spent journey in portugal! beijinhos!

"peugeot ville"
the real reason why I went to morocco is that I was invited to sketch some old cars in sidi al mokhtar, a small town between marrakech and essaouira, also called "peugeot ville".

on wednesday, for the souk, all the peugeot 404 of the area met on the main street to buy butane (they run with gaz in spite of gasoline), food and goats (carried alive on the roof of the cars). I spent the all day sketching this antiquities that must have droved more than a million km each.

2nd urban sketchers workshop in napoli
I will participate as an instructor to the the 2nd urban sketchers workshop in napoli, organised by simo capecchi.
An urban sketching workshop with Simo Capecchi, Lapin, Caroline Peyron and Laura Scarpa
May 30 - June 2, 2013
"This second edition will offer a deep immersion in the city of Naples to all the sketchers that have always dreamed to visit South of Italy. Locations will be selected among private houses and gardens that normally are not open to the public where we will meet local activists and artists that have a story to be recounted. Participants will be guided to discover Naples by different approaches to urban sketching. Field sessions will be leaded in turn by Simo Capecchi, an architects that likes to paint; Laura Scarpa, a comic artist that has always kept a graphic diary; Caroline Peyron, an art teacher and artist; Lapin, a french illustrator and indefatigable urban sketcher.
Goal of these neapolitans days is to experience that, while we draw from real, we should go beyond a simple aestethical or naturalistic result. Psychological and social investigation, but also personal sensibility and imagination can enrich location drawings that depict, reflect and elaborate reality. We observe to understand and to create."
you will find all the information about the workshop, and how to register here.
I share a few more words about my workshop:
"Vintage cars and dinosaurs
A new place can be intimidating and the first page of a sketchbook is hard for everyone. Warming up with your favourite subject, makes it easier. For Lapin, who grew up in the 80’s with plastic dinosaurs toys and that loves old Fiat 500 and Citroën 2cv design, a good sketchbook must contain at least one dinosaur or a vintage vehicle.
Follow him while, in Naples for the first time, he'll be looking for Tyrex and Vespas, at the Museum of Paleontology or along the city streets, to be depicted as contemporary icons in his unmistakable drawings.
Learning goals: Participants will be guided to find the best point of view to represent an object, to be precise but essential in describing its details, to master perspective and eventual distortions fitting the subject into the page, and to add annotations or graphics to the drawing, looking for a recognizable personal style."
see you in napoli!
